Daniel Tosh will be performing at new casino for the first time in 15 years in Las Vegas. Tosh's residency will be relocating to The Chelsea Theatre at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.
Tosh's first shows at the Cosmopolitan are scheduled for May 18, September 7, and November 16.
The reason for the relocation is due to The Mirage's ownership switching from MGM Resorts International to Hard Rock International. In late 2021, Hard Rock purchased the property for over $1 billion. Part of the purchase is rebranding The Mirage as Hard Rock Las Vegas, since the original Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (which opened in 1991) was purchased by Richard Branson's Virgin Group and rebranded as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. By doing his residency at Cosmopolitan, Tosh is "staying in the MGM family." Cosmopolitan became an MGM property in 2021.
The 48 year-old comedian's residency at The Mirage began in 2009 as his Comedy Central television show "Tosh.0" took off. The clip show would run for eleven seasons as many other imitators of the format premiered and were canceled.
On November 14, 2023, Tosh made a surprise return to regular programming when he launched his podcast, "Tosh Show" on YouTube. He clarified on the new show what happened with his Comedy Central show in 2021.
"Let me set the record straight about what happened over at Comedy Central, okay?" Tosh said. "They offered me a pile of cash to break my contract and I did. The end. I'm not mad though, because had that not happened, I wouldn't be here right now in this illegally built ADU in newly gentrified Baldwin Hills."
He continued, "the difference between 'Tosh Show' and 'Tosh.0' is that I will be wearing glasses occasionally and sitting down because it's a podcast and you're just listening but you can also watch [on YouTube] so it's pretty much the same show." Before interviewing his first guest of the podcast, titled "My Wife's Gynecologist," he shared another difference between his hit television show and new podcast: "I'm going to be interviewing people that I find interesting—so no celebrities, no comedians."
"I'm going to be interviewing people that I find interesting—so no celebrities, no comedians."
Tosh teased the switch of residency during the episode 11, "My Favorite Pit Boss Josh." He made the announcement during episode 12, "My Favorite Drag Queen - Rock M. Sakura."
