Jason Reitman Confirms "Ghostbusters: Hell's Kitchen" Began Filming This Week

Yesterday, director and producer Jason Reitman confirmed via Instagram that the sequel to 2021's "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" began filming this week in the United Kingdom.

"Back in the Firehouse. Day one!" Read the caption on a joint post by the "Ghostbusters" and Sony Pictures Instagram accounts.

In the photo, Reitman posed while clutching ghost trap prop with co-writer and director Gil Kenan. Reitman also serves as executive producer and co-writer.

On June 16, 2021, known by super-fans as "Ghostbusters Day," Reitman spoke to the crowd in attendance at a special event at the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City, California. There, he confirmed that there is much more to expect from the "Ghostbusters" franchise, including comic books, animated series and official proton packs made by toymaker Hasboro.

The producers sent one of the prop proton packs to Hasboro where their engineers 3-D scanned it to make an official adult toy out of it.

That night, Rock Music Life spoke with Reitman for comment but he declined saying, "I'm not doing any press until I am done writing the new film."

Although officially untitled, the "Ghostbusters" sequel is set to be released on December 20, 2023.

"Afterlife" was a box office success, bringing in $204 million.
